Resolutions Ritual

Since our Resolutions Ritual was canceled tonight due to sickness, I thought I would go over what I was planning to do here and you could give it a try on your own if you'd like!

You can do this ritual, today, tomorrow or even new years day if that works best for you.

This is a 4 part ritual,

1- Releasing the past.

2-Gratitude for the present

3-Manifesting the future

4-Embodiment practice

I'll go over what all of these are and give you some ideas on how to perform the ritual in ways that feel aligned for you.

Things you will need:

  • A journal or paper and something to write with (its better to use pen/pencil and paper than a phone or computer as it gets your body more involved in the process)

  • A bowl of salt, water or a container to burn papers and matches or lighter

(always practice fire safety! And if you're under 18 get an adult!!)

  • Something to play music

    Optional:

  • Art supplies, markers, colored pencils, crayons, ect.

  • Tarot or oracle cards

  • Candle and something to light it with

The first part of any ritual is opening to ritual space. This can be as simple or elaborate as you wish. The purpose here is just to set your intention and tell your body, mind, and energy that this is an important time and to pay attention. A great and simple way to open up to ritual space is to take a moment to center yourself. Close your eyes and take a couple of deep breaths. imagine a bubble of white light around your body and the space in which you are doing your work. Next you could light a candle with the intention that while this candle burns, my ritual space is open. Speak your intention, for instance, "I begin this ritual to clear the past and create a future that brings me abundance, clarity, health..." You can say it in your mind, but speaking intentions are more powerful and activate your throat chakra.

Now we move into the release.

Releasing the Past:

If you know what it is you are ready to let go of from the past year (or longer) you may write it down on a small piece of paper. I would recommend journaling about it, or perhaps writing your past self a letter of release to more intentionally clear the energy. If you would like more guidance around what is best for you to let go of, here is where a tarot or oracle card may come in handy. Shuffle your deck and ask aloud or in your mind, "What is the best thing for me to release right now to create the future I desire?" and see what the cards bring to you. Again, I recommend journaling, writing things down as a way of releasing them is a very cathartic practice.

Once you know what is ready to go from your life and energy, it's time to release! Take the small paper with a simple sentence or two and decide how you want to let it go. Fire is very intense and quick! You may want to light it on your candle and let it go into a fire safe container until nothing but ash remains. Make sure there are no embers burning and it has cooled completely before disposing of it. You can take it outside and give it to the earth or flush it down a toilet, whatever feels best for you! If fire doesn't feel good or you don't have the means to use this method, a bowl of salt can clear the energy for you. Bury the paper in the salt and throw it in a trash can. Water can be a useful way of clearing, place the paper in water and let it become fully saturated. When using this method, I like to bury the paper in the dirt outside if possible! The way you release is highly personal, so do what feels right for you!

Speak aloud while destroying the paper in the method of your choosing. Say, "I release ______ from my energy field, from my past and my future" Or say what feels right to you in the moment.

Gratitude for the Present

Now its time to move into the present moment. What do you have, right now in your life that you are grateful for? You can write these things in your journal, but don't simply write, "I am grateful for my car." Instead, think about the WHY you're grateful for your car. Your gratitude writings should like something like, "I am grateful for my car because it takes me on adventures and helps me get to where I am going!" Take a moment to feel the feelings of gratitude in your heart. Place a hand on your heart center and allow yourself to be swept into the emotion. Spend some time in this place of gratitude.

You could also use the optional art supplies to draw what you are grateful for. You can place this drawing or sentences on your alter, bedroom mirror, in your car or take a photo and make it the lock screen on your phone. Its a great way to bring in more gratitude.

Creating the Future

Now it's time to ask yourself, what do I want to create? Perhaps you have a strong idea of what you want your future to look like. Perhaps you have a general feeling you are trying to create. Whatever it is, it's up to you to create it, now!

Again, you could pull a tarot or oracle card for guidance at this time. You could ask for clarity about what you want to create, or perhaps you want to know what is the next step for you to take, or a sign you need to look for and follow that will lead you to your manifestation. You can ask, "What energy wants to guide me along this path?" Reflect on what comes up.

Take your journal and write your creation down, or again you may choose to be creative and draw your creation. You can also make a sigil or vision card for your manifestation. Be as detailed as possible, how do you want to feel? While writing, build the creation in your mind. See the smallest details and immerse yourself in the scene. What do you hear? What do you smell? What clothes are you wearing? Who is with you? What are the emotions you are filled with?

Once you have everything written and have spent some time immersing yourself in the scene, imagine a bright white light from the sky filling the pages on the paper, your body and the scene you've created in your mind. This is an energy blessing, and will empower your creation.

Embodiment Practice

Now its time for the music!

Before beginning the ritual, choose a song that fills you with strong, positive emotion! Something that gives you the same energy and feelings that your manifested life will give you. Music is very powerful, and in bringing in music and movement, (that's right you gotta dance!) you show your body, energy and the universe what you want to feel like in 2026. Maybe you have one song you listen to one time, or maybe you repeat it, or choose a couple of songs. This is your ritual and practice! Create and embody what feels good to you!!

Some song suggestions if you need them:

"Unwritten" -Natasha Bedingfield

"MY SZN"- Qveen Herby

“Brave” – Sara Bareilles

“Good as Hell” – Lizzo

“This Is Me” – Kesha (The greatest showman)

Once you have danced and felt the euphoria of creation settle within you, have a seat. Thank the universe, god, spirit guides or ancestors for witnessing your ritual. Thank them for the manifestation as if its already done. Thank yourself, past, present and future for showing up in this space. Speak aloud that the ritual has finished, and snuff your candle if you had one lit.

And there you go. This is the ritual I was hoping to perform with you all tonight, but the universe had different plans!

If you use this ritual and enjoyed yourself, keep an eye out on my events page for more moon and seasonal ritual offerings for the future. And feel free to donate anytime to support my work.

Thank you for being here and being you!
